bullet
Melody Beattie, author of Codependent No More developed this check list:
Do you feel responsible for other people--their feelings, thoughts, actions, choices, wants, needs, well-being and destiny?
bulletDo you feel compelled to help people solve their problems or by trying to take care of their feelings?
bulletDo you find it easier to feel and express anger about injustices done to others than about injustices done to you?
bulletDo you feel safest and most comfortable when you are giving to others?
bulletDo you feel insecure and guilty when someone gives to you?
bulletDo you feel empty, bored and worthless if you don't have someone else to take care of, a problem to solve, or a crisis to deal with?
bulletAre you often unable to stop talking, thinking and worrying about other people and their problems?
bulletDo you lose interest in your own life when you are in love?
bulletDo you stay in relationships that don't work and tolerate abuse in order to keep people loving you?
bulletDo you leave bad relationships only to form new ones that don't work, either?

ok so how low can I. King go? he has now cancelled Homecoming!! blaming the students!
He STILL doesn't realize that the protestors are composed of:
  • students (both undergraduate and graduate)
  • faculty
  • staff
  • alumni
  • friends
  • family
  • other supporters
this is NOT a group of unruly kids!

*HUGGLES*

my "cute" word for *hugs

There are times I hear with my ears, and there are times I hear with my eyes.  There are times i feel a part of "them" and at the same time, not feeling like a part of them. There are times I feel a part of "us", and at the same time, not feeling like a part of us.  My connection with you is never based on how we are different; my connection is based on  how we are the same -- not on the outside, but on the inside. Your heart, your mind, your soul, your fire...this is what binds me to you for all time. This is what has led us  through the universe to find each other.  There is a purpose. Let's find it together.

I was there for Black Friday, and I'm still in pseudo-shock that this has happened at our beloved Gallaudet.  Watching my friends be arrested by our own university president, for  fighting for a school WE love.  We only want the best for it. IKJ and JKF are clearly not that!

Likewise, I am in total awe of the support of alumni and other Deaf and hearing individuals who have come forward and embraced the "6th Street Heroes"...hugged them, shaken their hands, and said "we are proud of you!"  I'm not sure that it has fully hit them, what a difference they have made in the lives of the world.  There is a lot to be said for the integrity of a group of individuals who one month ago would have never envisioned that they would be arrested, let alone be arrested by the president of their university.

I felt pride, and shame at the same time. Pride in my friends. Shame for the administration that allowed this.  Pride for human valor and dignity. Shame for human ignorance and oppressiveness.
